William Sedgwick [Jonas Sedgwick / Elizabeth Barnes]
William was a shoemaker as was his father. William Harrison, husband of Sarah Ann Sedgwick, was the illegitimate son of Ann Harrison. She married Anthony Boddington after William was born. Throughout his life, William either used the surname Harrison or Boddington. Sarah and William's first four children, Kate (born Wollaston), William (born Chesham), Elizabeth (born Wollaston) and Thomas (born Chesham) were registered as Harrison. The fourth child, Edwin was registered 'Edwin Harrison Boddington' and subsequently the rest of the 13 children were given the surname Boddington. The whole family were afterwards usually known as Boddington. The bandleader Stanley Boddington is a descendant of William and Sarah. |
