In the 1841 census Thomas, Ann, Abigail, John, Jane, Joseph and Susanna Sedgwick were living at 12 East End, Aiskew, Yorkshire. It seems certain that this is Joseph's family. The children were baptised at Bedale and the register shows that Thomas' profession is labourer of Aiskew.

In 1851 Thomas, Ann, Mary Ann, Joseph and Susanna are all living in Aiskew. Thomas gives his place of birth as Leeming, and Ann as Redcar. Abigail is working in Gatenby and Jane in Well. Son John is in Crosby.

'Son' Thomas has been added based on his birthplace and the names of his children - better proof is needed but it looks a good match pro tem.
