In 1851 Thomas was a grocer. In 1861 his daughter Margaret is living with his mother Margaret in Houghton le Side. By 1871 Thomas and Jane are in Merrington together with grandson Earnest Sidgwick - Thomas was working as a beer house keeper and tea dealer.
