Stephen Sedgwick [Reading Sedgwick] Stephen was described as a victualler, publican or cheesemonger depending on the record consulted. Most interesting of all is that when his first child was baptised, he was decribed as a bombardeer - he and his wife were married in Woolwich. From 1785, Stephen was described as the Sexton of St Alfege at the baptism of his children. Daughter Charlotte Sedgwick was described as being Sexton in the 1841 census Anne's father was James Rae and she, Stephen and son William are mentioned in his 1776 will. Son Samuel Daniel was apprenticed to John Briscow in the Guild of Painters in 1795. |
