Could John be the child of William and Susanna Sedgwick? William was a carver and gilder. A William married a Susanna Parsons in 1790 at Whitechapel, London. Frances was the daughter of Samuel Pope.

In the 1841 census the family are living in the Edgeware Road, Marylebone except Frances junior. John was a coach trimmer?.

John was described as a widowed herbalist in 1851 and as dependant on his family in 1861. His son in law George Stevens was another herbalist and more interestingly a gold beater. This links him to Edward Parsons Sedgwick a gold beater with Bristol connections.

Son Charles was an apprentice to a gold and silver beater in 1851. He is next found in the US 1880 census with his wife and son. Both men were gold beaters.
