George was an agricultural labourer in 1841 and 1851. The Hannah in Goodramgate is assumed to be George's daughter with a mis-named son Edward.

Recent research by one of George's descendants shows that the baptism of Martha and Hannah describes George as;
labourer, son of Daniel Sedgwick of Bresty Wood by Deborah his wife

Daniel is probably the 1749 son of John Sigswith born in Pateley Bridge.
